French designer David Portelareleased some new CG images of his proposal for the redesign of theiconic Citroen 2CV. The original economy car had one of the longestproduction runs of any automotive model (spanning from 1949-1990).Portela took ques from the original grill, floating headlights, andfenders and merged them with a more avant-gardist silhouette. A elegantbut somewhat still low frills polished metal finish looks like it camestraight from a classic jet aircraft.
Citroen has been toying with bringing back the 2CVin a modern updated form. Some images have been circulating around theinternet and speculation of a concept unveiling in 2009 has beensuggested. With interest in small cars surging, it just might be thesignal of another long run for the "tin snail".
