But what's the secret of the house's amazingly low power consumption? Using solar power, the house generates 120V AC, but it's also wired for 12V. The living room has three 7W 12V compact fluorescent lamps, a 12V Widescreen LCD TV, a DVD player, and an efficient surround sound stereo system. The office has a Mac laptop acting has a desktop, and all other computer peripherals are switched off automatically when not in use. When not lit by daylight, the office uses compact fluorescents lamps, and 12V LED desk lamps.

Why a screencast demo? Well, to be perfectly honest with you, I think it’s something that’s been missing for quite some time. Would you rather sign up for a new service, verify your email, and then try to figure it out by reading some FAQ’s or would you rather watch a 2 or 3 minute screencast demo and see for yourself if it’s even worth your time?

Old-fashioned televised debates have their value, but TV has several inherent limits. Only a few people get to ask questions. The candidates have very little time to answer, forcing them to speak in canned sound-bites. And the audience has no way of providing meaningful feedback. If the candidate doesn't answer the question, we have no way of pushing them to do so.

That's why we've created 10Questions.com. This is an experiment in people-powered online democracy.

I'm currently having problems with Google Calendar when entering events. If I create an event using the edit screen (rather than quick add) and use the calendar date picker, it seems to be getting confused between date formats. To create an event for the 4th December 2007, I have to select the 12th April 2007 in the calendar (which is selected by default if I click the 4th December 2007 box in the main calendar view). I can only assume it's mixing up US/UK date formats – i.e. 4/12/2007 vs 12/4/2007.

The 120-M.P.H. Electric Car
This is the electric car that can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds to a top speed of 120 mph in one gear with no shifting thanks to its two electric motors -- smaller versions of the same kind found in diesel-electric locomotives -- that combine to produce over 1,000 lbf ft. of torque. No wider than most motorcycles at 39", it can fit in a 6' half-lane with more clearance than a semi-truck in a full 12' freeway lane, enabling you to negotiate traffic congestion where lane splitting is permitted. Its small size eliminates the need for parallel parking as it can park perpendicular to a curb without the need for a full space.

Quoted: As with every OS X update since version 10.1, there's no single feature in Leopard that will force Mac users to upgrade immediately. Instead, it's the sheer deluge of new features that's likely to persuade most active Mac users to upgrade, especially since this is the longest gap between OS X upgrades -- two and a half years -- since the product was introduced. Sure, some items on Apple's list of 300 features might seem inconsequential, but if even a handful of them hit you where you live, that will be more than enough motivation for you to upgrade.
