Finding quality images and photos for complementing an important article, essay or news report is already a challenge for many. Imagine when the goal is not only to find good images, but also to find some that you could openly and freely use without needing to pay royalties or one-time publishing rights.

The pre-Columbian ancestors of today's Indians used it. So did the ancient Romans, the medieval Arabs and many other preindustrial peoples around the world.

It's still widely used in less-developed countries, and it is increasingly popular in well-developed countries as energy shortages loom.

Quoted: Asked about this and about the visit, US military spokesman Adm Gregory Smith said Washington welcomed positive influence from Iran, but added that Tehran needed to "find ways to turn around" what he termed negative influence in Iraq.
Iran says much the same about the US - before he left Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters: "It is the American practice to present others as guilty wherever they are defeated. Is it not funny that those with 160,000 forces in Iraq accuse us of interference?"

Axolotl Summary and Study Guide - Julio Cortazar

Axolotl Summary and Study Guide - Julio Cortazar:
"Julio Cortazar's short story 'Axoloti,' from his collection Final deljuego (End of the Game, and Other Stories), has disturbed, perplexed, and delighted a growing number of devoted readers and critics since its publication in 1956. One of Cortazar's most famous stories, it is told by a man who has been transformed into an axoloti, a species of salamander, after spending many hours watching axolotls in an aquarium."

The key idea behind the knol project is to highlight authors. Books have authors' names right on the cover, news articles have bylines, scientific articles always have authors -- but somehow the web evolved without a strong standard to keep authors names highlighted. We believe that knowing who wrote what will significantly help users make better use of web content. At the heart, a knol is just a web page; we use the word "knol" as the name of the project and as an instance of an article interchangeably. It is well-organized, nicely presented, and has a distinct look and feel, but it is still just a web page. Google will provide easy-to-use tools for writing, editing, and so on, and it will provide free hosting of the content. Writers only need to write; we'll do the rest.

When I looked at FreeMind, the open-source mind mapping software program written in Java, several years ago, it was still a bit rough around the edges. But what a difference a few years can make! The current version of FreeMind (v0.8.0, available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems) is a polished, feature-rich application that can hold its own against just about any commercial competitor in the mind mapping software arena.

In this "first look" review, I will highlight some of the most significant features and benefits of FreeMind, with an eye toward how it can be used in business applications
